The body of a 65-year-old man was found under suspicious circumstances at Sheetal Das ki Baghia area of Upper lake under Shymala Hills police Station area on Monday.
According to the police, in the morning on Monday commuters near at Sheetal Das ki Baghia spotted a body floating in the Upper and informed the police.
After receiving the information, a team was rushed to the spot and with the help of on-duty BMC divers, the body was fished out.
After the preliminary investigation police sent the body for the post mortem. The deceased was identified as Hari Singh Sen of Idgah Hills and used to visit Sheetal Das ki Baghia for taking bath.
During the investigation police found that the deceased used to visit Upper Lake for taking bath on alternate days and on Sunday he left house for bath but failed to return and later his body was found floating at the Upper Lake on Monday.
Police have recovered his belongings from the spot where he has gone to take bath and kept his clothes and belonging before going into the water.
The police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation.
The medical of the victim is yet to be done, which could reveal more details of the death.
The possibility of killing could not be ruled out, but to ascertain anything about the reason of death and other assault is not possible at the moment, police said.
