On the directives of Election Commission of India, camps will be held at all 53,946 polling booths in the State on Sunday March 9 to include names of eligible voters in electoral rolls.
At the camps, Booth level Officers will sit with electoral rolls. One copy of electoral rolls will be pasted on the wall of polling booth so that voters can check their names. Electoral rolls will also be read out at the camps for the convenience of illiterate persons.
BlOs will also carry Form 6 from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm, which will be filled up by willing persons.
On the commission’s directive, wide publicity of the camps is being undertaken. Public announcement through drumbeats are being made at local levels. District election officers have informed recognised political parties about camps.
They have been asked also to urge political parties to make available their booth level agents at the camps. Facility of filling up forms of willing voters will also be available at the camps.
After filling up, the BlOs will undertake physical verification, local scrutiny etc and then submit the forms to ARO. ARO will dispose of forms after completing process in
11 days. Special initiative will be taken at the camp to include names of all remaining
eligible voters.
EPIC card holders can also check their names in electoral rolls and fill up form-6 if their names are missing from electoral rolls.
According to the commission, EPIC is only an identity document and a person cannot vote despite having it if his name is not included in electoral rolls.
SMS facility has been provided to voters to help them know their status in electoral rolls. Voters can obtain such information by typing MP one space EPIC (without gap), then one space and then type the number given on the EPIC card and send the same to 51969.
After this, the voter will get return SMS informing him about his polling booth and serial number in electoral roll. Besides, voters can also search their names on www.ceomadhyapradesh.nic.in.
