The festival filled with the colours of rich art and culture ‘Lokrang’ began here from January 26 at BHEL Dusshera Maidan.

The five-day event is observed with a lot of fervour by the citizens and artists from across the world are invited to showcase their art and culture.

The event is jointly organised by Tribal Public Art and Boli Development Academy, Madhya Pradesh Cultural Council, and Directorate of Swaraj Institute, South Central Region Cultural Center, Nagpur, North Central Region Cultural Center, Prayagraj, Department of Arts and Culture, Manipur Government. It is the 34th National Festival of Arts 'Lokarang'.

It was inaugurated by Law Minister P.C. Sharma, Renu Tiwari, Secretary Culture and Anil Kumar, Director, Tribal Folk Art and Education Development Academy.

The event began with dance drama 'Ramayani' based on Gond Sakhan. It was directed by Suman Saha.

Gond is one of the main tribes of Madhya Pradesh, in which Gond Ramayani has a tradition that is prevalent since ancient times, whose original form is Ramayana. In this performance divided into seven chapters, Ram is the king, but the hero is Lakshman.

Ram and Sita are happily residing in their own castle in Ayodhya, but Lakshman is auspicious in his palace.

The main concern of sister-in-law Sita is that Laxman is married. He often sees the dream and then orders Lakshman to go and marry the girl and bring the palace.

In this way Laxman returns after marrying different types of feats and sometimes also fails.

Later different episodes till Sita exile were presented on stage beautifully.

The story is quite interesting and is full of dramatics. Its theatrical adaptation was done by Yogesh Tripathi and presented in the form of dance drama on stage.
