Four miscreants involved in accepting bets were nabbed from two different places. Two were found placing bets on the IPl matches while two were found accepting bets. Police recovered transaction details of betting of lakhs of rupees, mobile phones and a TV set from their possession. Acting on a tip-off at around 11 pm, two gamblers were nabbed from Radha Apartment at Teelajamalpura. Seven mobile phones, one lCD TV set, Rs3,200 cash and transactions of betting of Rs1.1 lakh were seized.
The two nabbed gamblers were identified as Shankarlal Rajni (50) and Prakash Sarathe (25). Crime branch police personnel found transactions of around Rs1.1 lakh. The details of the transactions would be investigated and the call record details of the mobile phones recovered from the spot will also be looked into. Police have started further investigation into the matter and have told more arrests would be made.
In another case of gambling, three gamblers were found betting at Jhinsi Square on Monday night and when the crime branch raided the house in Jehangirabad area, one of them managed to escape while the two were nabbed by the police. The gamblers were identified as Assadullah Khan (28), Shariq Khan (32) and Asad Malik. Assadullah and Shariq were nabbed by the police while Malik managed to escape and is still absconding.
From the nabbed gamblers, Rs15,500 have been recovered and receipts of betting. Police have intensified the search for the third absconding accused. A case under Gambling Act was registered by the police and further investigation has been started.
