Suspecting illicit relationship, a 37-year-old married woman was attacked by her husband with a sharp-edged weapon at Saraswati Nagar under TT Nagar police area in the morning on Tuesday.
According to the police the victim Shradha Prajapati was attacked by her husband Ramgopal Prajapati. The victim was rushed to nearby hospital where her condition was reportedly stable.
Investigating Officer SI SS Verma said that the victim sustained severe injuries in her stomach, right hand and thigh. Her condition is stable and is undergoing treatment at Hamidia hospital.
The victim used to work as domestic help in Saraswati Nagar and in the morning while she was at work the accused reached and attacked her with a sharp edged weapon and escaped the spot, he added.
In the initial investigation police found that the accused after reaching the spot pressurized the victim to return home with him but she refused irritating the accused and lead to the attack by the accused.
During the investigation police found that the accused used to have frequent fights with her wife and the reason which surfaced in the investigation was his suspicion over the victim. The accused suspected that the victim was having illicit relationship.
After the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 307 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
The victim is a resident of Banganga area. The details of the accused would be provided after he would be nabbed, said the police.
Search for the accused has been started, said police.
