Procurement of wheat on support price is going on in Madhya Pradesh since March 16. So far, 32.03 lakh MT wheat has been procured at 3000 procurement centres in the State. Wheat is being procured this year on support price of Rs1525 per quintal. So far, wheat has been procured from 4.14 lakh farmers and a payment of Rs3114 crore made to them.
Among divisions, 2.60 lakh MT wheat has been procured in Indore, 10.37 lakh MT Bhopal, 7.61 lakh MT Narmadapuram, 4.38 lakh MT Ujjain, 1.75 lakh MT Sagar, 2.80 lakh MT Jabalpur, 1.42 lakh MT Gwalior, 75,000 MT Chambal, 31,000 MT Rewa and 618 MT wheat has been procured in Shahdol division.
In view of Simhastha, wheat procurement process has been completed in Ujjain district on April 20. Total 1.66 lakh MT wheat has been procured in Ujjain district. To save farmers from inconvenience, SMSes are being sent informing them of the dates on which they have to come to procurement centres to sell their produce. This year, 19.34 lakh farmers have got registered to sell produce on support price. State Civil Supplies Corporation and MARKFED have been appointed Nodal Agencies for wheat procurement. Gunny bags have been made available at procurement centres in adequate number. This year, arrangement of 2.75 lakh bales of gunny bags has been made. This year, 75 lakh MT wheat is estimated to be procured. last year, 73.09 lakh MT wheat was procured on support price in the State.
