A 32-year-old woman was beaten to death by her husband at Barkheda area under Govindpura police station area on Friday.
According to the police victim Sumitra was hit by a stone in her head by her husband Rajendra after a heated argument between the couple. The victim was rushed to a JP Hospital but was referred to Hamidia hospital due to her critical condition where she died later during treatment.
Victim used to work at a Cotton factory in Mandideep and would talk over mobile phones with her colleagues of the factory which frustrated the accused and the couple would have fights over the issue. Rajendra suspected that his wife was having an extra martial affair and would fight with her often.
locals and relatives confirmed in their recorded statements that the couple used to have frequent fights and their relationship was not on good terms. Source of earning for the accused was his coaching classes but as it not enough to meet ends the victim used to work.Another issue on which the two used to fight was taking care of their two children as victim used to leave the house early in the morning and in her absence the accused used to take care of the children.
On Friday after a fight the accused went so infuriated that he hit victim’s head with a stone on Friday afternoon. The blow was so powerful that the victim fell unconscious and was rushed to hospital. The police have registered a case under section 302 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
