A three-year-old girl child was sexually assaulted by her neighbour, who is also a distant relative of the victim in Rajiv Nagar slums under Kamla Nagar police station area on the day of Holi on Monday.
The police have arrested the rapist, but the locals are demanding immediate hanging of the offender, who committed the crime with such a small child. According to the police, the victim went missing mysteriously from her residence in the afternoon. After sometime, when her family members came to know that she was missing, they immediately launched a hunt for her, but failed to locate her till late evening.
later, at around 11 pm, they approached police and filed a ‘missing person’ complaint with the police and subsequently, the police started searching for the victim. After some time, the victim was found in unconscious state in a nullah behind an under construction house. She was immediately rushed to a hospital, where it was confirmed that the victim was sexually assaulted. She narrated the whole story to her parents informing that neighbouring youth Bablu had taken her on the pretext of buying chocolates.
Police said the offender had thrown the girl in the nullah considering that she had died. The police soon flung into action and caught Bablu from his residence. However, on Tuesday, the local residents along with family members of the victim gathered at the Kamla Nagar police station premises and demanded hanging of the accused. later, senior police officials pacified the crowd saying that the court would hear the case soon and under the new Act, judgment in such cases is delivered within few months. On this, the residents left the place.
