The Gwalior police on Tuesday registered criminal cases against three students and two staffers of the Scindia School in connection with the suicide attempt made by the Adarsh Singh, son of Bihar Cooperatives Minister Jai Kumar Singh after facing alleged ragging.

Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Yusuf Qureshi informed that the FIRs were registered against the minor boys, resident tutor Arpan Soni and House master Parampreet Grewal.

On August 19, the 14-year-old boy was found in a semi-conscious state in his hostel room. He was taken to a private hospital for treatment and when his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to New Delhi's Apollo Hospital.

Taking serious cognizance of the matter, District Collector P Narhari had ordered a probe to be conducted by Sub Divisional Magistrate S Saxena. SSP Santosh Kumar Singh also ordered Additional SP Qureshi to separately conduct an inquiry, especially into the ragging aspect of the case.

Besides, after the report of the committee submitted to the Collector, it was found that the boy was victimised to ragging and bullying by students and two staffers. On the basis of the report, the Collector had asked the police to register an FIR against guilty.

Within 24 hours, the police arrested two staffers and three students — Ashutosh Mishra, Rituraj Shekhar and Sailesh Narwaria.

Meanwhile, former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is closely monitoring the developments in the case. He felt that the school management should have intimated him about the facts. He is collecting information regarding the case from his own sources and reportedly would take stern action against the management officials.
