In a shocking incident a pregnant woman carrying a three-month-old foetus was forcefully operated for tubectomy at a health centre. The matter came into light when the woman delivered the baby after six months and the new born went critically ill and was brought for treatment at the health centre.
Information regarding the operation was revealed when RTI activist Girijashankar Parihar procured the information through RTI and unbelievable facts were revealed. The victim was forcefully operated to meet the figures of the targeted tubectomy operations, he said.
Parihar alleged that the before tubectomy certain tests are done but the health centre was in haste to achieve the target and without conducting any tests she was operated for tubectomy. The attitude of Health department was appalling as those who assigned the duty to provide medical assistance are also involved in corrupt practices and were jeopardising lives of patients, told Parihar. Earlier the victim Manju Bai of Palasoda came to the health centre after she reported stomach pain but the on duty staff took her to Neemuch district hospital where without any tests she was taken to the operation theatre and operated.
After six months she delivered a baby but the condition of the baby was very weak and when they went to doctors of the district hospital they were threatened to keep mum on the issue. When contact the CMHO Dr KK Vaskale said that he was aware about the matter. Investigations have been ordered and the culprit doctors and staff involved in the act would not be spared.
