The handwritten letters by Harivansh Rai Bachchan are being displayed at Dushyant Kumar Pandulipi Sanghralaya.
Notably, the museum authorities received these handwritten letters here on Tuesday by a noted poet, music composer from Indore Chandrasen Virat. There are three letters that were written by Harivansh Rai Bachchan to Virat.
As per the examination of the letters it was concluded that the letters were written in the years from 1963 to 1971. One postcard was posed in Bhopal, another in Ujjain and the third one in Harda. While talking to The Pioneer, Director of Dushyant Kumar Pandulipi Sanghralaya Rajurkar Raj said, “It was not difficult to make out that these postcards were handwritten by Harivansh Rai Bachchan as almost everyone is familiar with his signatures.”
On asking about the identification of the letters, Raj further said, “Yes, it is a bit difficult to read out properly what is written as most of the letters and words are faded. It”s been almost 50 years from now when the letters were written to Chandrasen Virat and he has handed over the letters to me now so that they could be conserved properly.”
Elaborating further, he said, “We will display the letters for one month for the new people who visit the museum. But, after that we will keep them in preservation.” Elaborating more about it he said, “As the light effect and the changing climate may harm the letters and also it is not possible to make some changes in them,” he added.
While adding more information about the letters, Raj informed that in the letter it was identified that Harivansh Rai Bachchan had sent Diwali wishes.m In the letters he has congratulated Virant on the publication of his (then) novel Nirvasna Chandani and also expressed his grief over not arriving at a programme organized in Damoh. The display of the letters would remain open for the tourists and common public for just one month, he added.
