In a horrifying incident, a 28-year-old tantrik was brutally killed by slitting throat when he was asleep at his Hathaikheda residence under Piplani police station area on Friday.

Police said the victim, identified as Gopal Joshi, was found in an unconscious state on Friday morning. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. The preliminary investigation conducted so far suggested that the victim was killed by slitting throat with a sharp-edged weapon.

On Friday morning, police said, the victim’s wife had gone to dump the garbage near her residence and on her return she found her husband killed, which suggested that someone was waiting for a chance to find Gopal alone in the house and as soon as his wife went out of the house, he was murdered.

After preliminary investigation, the body was sent for post-mortem and a case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered.

During the initial probe, it was found that the victim was engaged in practising pujari, but also used to work as tantrik. He used to visit other towns for offering his services. The role of victim’s wife was found suspicious as the relationship between husband and wife was learnt as estranged. Police claimed that the preliminary investigation indicated that the major reason behind the dispute was that the victim suspected his wife’s relationship with few local persons.

Injury marks were not visible on the body which suggests that the victim was attacked suddenly and was not able to resist the attack.

The initial probe had also revealed that the victim had a fight on Thursday night and on Friday morning he was found dead at his residence but the reason behind the death could not be ascertained and would be investigated told the police.
