Over 2,500 children from various city schools on Tuesday took part in the mass ‘Surya Namaskar’; a programme organised by the district administration to mark Swami Vivekanand Jayanti here on Tuesday.
The main function was organised at Chimanbagh Ground. The function began with recitation of the national song – Vande Mataram and song of Madhya Pradesh. Thereafter, district collector P Narhari read message of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan wherein the latter appealed school students to perform Rs surya namaskar’ and pranayam for a healthy body and mind.
It was followed by mass Rs surya namaskaar’ program by school students. Collector P Narhari and other senior officials also took part in the Surya Namaskar program. Besides Surya Namaskar, children also practiced various yoga aasans. Ironically, BJP leaders, MlAs and corporators of the city were conspicuous by their absence.
