The police cane-charge on a group of around 250 physically challenged people demanding implementation of court orders to fill jobs reserved for physically challenged candidates or else pay them according to the collector rate.
Two wheelchairs were damaged completely by the police and one person sustained injuries on his left arm due to the cane charging. The banners of the agitators were also damaged by the policemen.
The agitators that comprise physically challenged people across the State had earlier demanded to meet Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan but the request was rejected.
Bharat Kumar of the group told that they would continue to protest till their demands are met.
Earlier jobs of their category were floated in Balaghat, Indore and Satna but were later the dates of interview were postponed or were filled through wrong means, he added. They are protesting for the past three months demanding the filling of jobs vacant under the ‘physically challenged’ category.
