A 25-year-old youth was shot at by unidentified miscreants at boys’ hostel at 10 no stop under Habibganj police station area on Tuesday. Panic prevailed at 10 no stop after two unidentified persons entered boys’ hostel and opened fire at a youth in which he sustained bullet injury in his left arm.
On the receipt of the information, Habibganj police personnel and senior police officers reached the spot and started investigation. In the initial investigation, the victim was identified as Rajan. The victim used to reside at boys hostel in Arera Colony E-3 area and works as medical support staff at a private hospital.
Victim’s brother used to work at the same private hospital for the past few years and the victim was working for the past few months. Security guard at the hostel after hearing the bullet fire rushed inside the hostel and found the victim injured and bleeding profusely.
After the fire, a girl and a youth were spotted escaping the hostel by the security guard, but they could not be identified. Police said that the victim sustained bullet injury in his left arm and was rushed to the nearby Fracture hospital, where his condition is reportedly stable.
The reason behind the attack could not be ascertained at the moment. The police have registered a case under section 307 of the IPC and have started manhunt to nab the unidentified miscreants. Till the filing of the report, the police were not able to establish the identity of the assailants.
