A 24-year-old young woman was sexually exploited by her fiancé for the past three years. later, the parents of the would be husband demanded dowry of `15 lakh from victim’s family members. The incident was reported at Housing Board Colony under Nishatpura police station area on Sunday and the police have registered a case of sexual harassment.
According to the police, the victim got engaged to the accused Aqib Khan three years ago and since then she was sexually exploited by him and was harassed by his family members for dowry.
The victim was pressurized by the accused and his family members for dowry of `15 lakh and along with the dowry they used to harass her for facilitating a Government job for the accused.
The family members of the accused which were involved in harassing the victim were Aqib’s uncle Rashid and aunt Shanno and Shaheen.
The police have registered a case under section 376(3) of the IPC and section 3 and 4 Dowry Prohibition Act 1961. The accused went absconding after the complaint was lodged and are still missing. Police have started search for the absconding accused.
Meanwhile, a 28-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in the name of marriage for the past five years at Sarvadharma Colony under Kolar police station area. The accused Vinod Somkunwar sexually exploited the victim who works with a private hospital and later he refused to marry her.
Dejected over the accused victim lodged a complaint with the Kolar police and later based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 376 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
