Crime against women in the city continues to be on the rise. In a fresh incident, two youths barged into the makeshift house of a chowkidar at an under construction building site in Ahilya Nagar under Annapurna police station jurisdiction and thereafter one of the youths raped wife of chowkidar, while his accomplice carrying a sword in his hand threatened the man of dire consequence if raised an alarm.
The incident occurred at 4.30 am on Friday morning, while the victim along with her husband Kashiram was sleeping in her house.
When the victim tried to resist, she was dragged by the accused from the room to barandah of the house.
In the meantime, the chowkidar who was standing still in awe, somehow managed to flee he house by pushing another accused carrying sword in his hand and raise and alarm outside his house.
Hearing the noise, the relatives of chowkidar who were residing nearby building site, rushed to the incident site.
Sensing trouble, the accused tried to flee but one of them identified as Vinod (22), a resident of Sudama Nagar slum area was overpowered by the victim’s relatives and beaten up severely.
Thereafter, the people took him to Annapurna police station and informed police about the incident.
Annapurna police registered the case against accused and launched manhunt for another accused identified as Sunil, stated to be absconding.
Accused Vinod already had cases of thefts and beating registered against him Annapurna police station earlier.
