A 21-year-old girl was raped and brutally beaten by his step uncle at Qazi Camp. A case of rape was reported in the Hanumanganj police station by the Child Helpline on Sunday.
According to the police, the victim used to live at Bafana Colony. The victim’s father Abdul Saleem got married for the second time but after his marriage frequent fights used to occur between the victim and her step mother.Saleem decided to keep his daughter at his second wife’s brother place at Qazi Camp to avoid fights between them.
Around two months ago, the victim was sent to Kazi Camp at her step uncle’s house. During his stay the victim was raped by her uncle Ubed Beig and the accused had threatened her not to report the incident to family or police.
On June 8 during a marriage function the victim’s father alleged her of stealing a mobile. Perturbed by the theft charges and harassed by her uncle, the victim left the house. The incident came into fore when the Child Helpline was informed and their volunteers came to her rescue. On June 13 the Child Helpline found the victim and provided her shelter. The victim told the Child Helpline about the sexual assault and the atrocities faced by her.
On Sunday they brought the victim to the Hanumanganj police station and after preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 376 of the IPC and have started further investigation. The accused Ubed Beig escaped after the incident and is still absconding. Ubed is brother of victim’s step mother.
