A 21-year-old youth was killed, while his friend sustained severe injuries when the jeep they were driving on was hit by a speeding truck near Vrindavan garden under Misrod police station area on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Jabbar, while the injured youth was identified as Rizwan of Jehangirabad area.
Investigating Officer ASI Dalvi Singh said the deceased was driving a pickup loading vehicle Mahindra Bolera and was returning from Hoshanagabad. The victim was driving at the BRTS corridor and the speeding truck was crossing at a cut point near Saklecha hospital. Victim’s vehicle hit the rear end of the truck and which proved fatal for Jabar while Rizwan sustained grave injuries. Statements of the victim who escaped the accident and the family members of Jabar are yet to be recorded. The victim used to work as a driver for the pick up loading van.
The truck driver escaped leaving the truck at the spot and is still missing. Victims met accident while on their way back to home in Jehangirabad.
The police have registered a case under section 304 A of the IPC and have started further investigation.
