16-YEAR-OlD Falls IN DAM, dies

A sixteen-year-old class 11 student drowned while his friend and classmate made a miraculous escape, while on a picnic at the Ajnal dam near Bhopal on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Amaan of the Ashoka garden area. According to the police, Amaan along with his two friends had gone for the picnic to the dam without informing their parents on Sunday."One of the three friends, identified as Tariq, told the police that his friends, neither of whom knew swimming waded into deep waters, while they were playing near the dam. Tariq raised an alarm, as he realised that his friends were drowning, following which the others present on the spot rushed for their help. While one of them with a heavily bloated body was pulled out of water the other boy could not be saved," police said.

Family members of the dead boy, whose body was later fished out of water, alleged foul play saying their son was wearing clothes when his body was recovered from water. "Both the boys were wearing their full clothes. No one wears clothes while venturing into water so we suspect that they could have been pushed into water," grieving family members told the police.
