Woman given triple talaq
Anuppur: A woman was given triple talaq on February 14, as she failed to meet the dowry demands by her husband's family. Rahanuma Khatoon's in-laws asked her to give dowry, somewhere between Rs 5 to 6 lakh.After Rahanuma complained to the police in regard to the mental torture and dowry, a case was lodged against Khatoon's husband Mahbub Siddiqui and his parents under several sections of the IPC.The 'Muslim Women Protection of Rights on Marriage Bill' proposed a three-year jail term for a Muslim man, who divorces his wife via talaq-e-biddat (triple talaq). The bill has been passed by lok Sabha, but is stuck in Rajya Sabha.
Cm sends ‘Chadar’ to ajmer sharif
Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has sent ‘Chadar’ to Ajmer Sharif on the occasion of 806 Urs of Hazrat Khwaja Gharib Nawaz Rahmatullah Alaihi on Monday. He also extended greetings to the devotees, who are participating in the Urs.Chouhan, on behalf of the State handed over the Chadar to the Vice Chairman of Backward Class and Minority Finance Corporation SK Moiuddin. He will proceed for Ajmer along with other devotees to offer Chadar. Sharukh Moiuddin, Harun Javed Soudagar and Nasar Khan were present on the occasion.
Cheti Chand Mahotsav tomorrow
Bhopal: Cheti Chand Mahotsav is being organized by the Sindhi Sahitya Akademi on the incarnation day of Bhagwan Jhulelal at Sultanpur of Raisen district on March 21. The Minister of State for Culture (Independent Charge) Surendra Patwa will be the Chief Guest of the programme.Director of Sindhi Sahitya Akademi, Rajendra Premchandani has informed that the programme will begin at 7 pm at Thana ground of Sultanpur. President of Poojya Sindhi Panchayat Puroshottam Devnani will also grace the occasion. Kishore Ramani will preside over the programme.The World renowned singer Kajal Chandiramani along with Saral Roshan and Dilip lalwani will give musical presentation on the occasion.
