IDFC bank opens 208 micro-ATMs, 35 branches

Bhopal: After having received license for banking, the IDFC bank has opened over 208 microATMs, 35 branches and IDFC Aadhaar Pay merchant points and the bank’s  presence is spread across the districts of Betul, Bhopal, Dewas, Dhar, East Nimar, Harda, Hoshangabad, Indore, Narsimhapur, Raisen, Ratlam, Sehore, Ujjain, West Nimar and Vidisha. Each microATM is supported by a branch, with staff from the branch offering technology driven, doorstep banking to citizens in remote locations. These microATMs are placed at kirana shops, chemists, panchayat offices and at residences of business correspondents or BCs, which enables 24x7 service to customers. In a statement, the bank said since it commenced commercial operations, IDFC Bank has significantly expanded its reach to over 15 districts and 250 rural and unbanked locations of Madhya Pradesh.  As the microATMs are interoperable (that is, the devices are capable of enabling transactions for customers of all banks) and based on Aadhaar biometric authentication, they almost function like a branch. The device can also be used for opening a bank account.

IDFC Bank is the first bank in India to adopt a differentiated strategy to servicing citizens in rural and unbanked locations.

volunteers of COPS conduct cleanliness drive

Bhopal: Plastics are everywhere, from the mountains to the seas. Unfortunately, the non-biodegradable plastics are posing serious threat to the environment and are one of the most potent causes of global warming. To do away with plastics and other materials harmful to the environment, the volunteers of COPS (Clean Our Planet Society) gathered at Swarn Jayanti Park in Shahpura and conducted a cleanliness drive on April 9. Armed with garbage bags, as many as 12 volunteers hit the park, a hotspot with joggers, to clean it. In the two-hour drive materials including gutka pouches, rags, shattered bottles, chips and chocolate wrappers, etc were collected and properly discarded. Interestingly, the small effort managed to catch the attention of onlookers and bystanders too. Some appreciated the cause and discussed about the importance of informing people about the harmful effect of plastic, some came forward to extend a helping hand while some others clicked photographs of the volunteers busy at work.

This was the fifth cleanliness drive conducted by Clean Our Planet Society following successful events at Boat Club, Sair Sapata, Kerwa Jungle Camp and Manuabhan Ki Tekri. Although, small in numbers, the volunteers of COPS are devoted to usher in change in the environment through their humble efforts.
