‘No improvement in healthcare sector’
Gwalior: Even as the State Government spends lakhs of rupees for improvement in healthcare sector by giving better facilities to the hospitals there is no improvement on the ground and still many people have to go to private hospitals. The vivid example is the JA Hospital where the health services have been totally crippled. Many patients belonging to poor and destitute categories are not getting medicines inspite of possessing the booklets of Antyodaya Upchar Yojana. When asked about the situation hospital management has different views on the subject. As a matter of fact, everyday a large number of patients come here specially from Bhind, Morena, Shivpuri, Guna, Seopur, Ashok Nagar, Dohalpur, Orai, Jhansi and Etawaha.
Unfortunately, even the medical store of the hospital does not give medicines to the patients of OPD. So the patients have to purchase medicines from the market. It may be noted that two days ago, during his visit at Gwalior, Minister in-charge of Gwalior district Jayant Malaiya had asked the doctors that no medicines should be prescribed from the market. The greatest hardship being faced is the child ward in Kamla Raja Hospital. All the three wards are full of child patients. Two children are treated on one bed. The collars and fans are not working. The security guards also harass the patients and their attainders.
