A 20-year-old youth died after he was hit by speeding passenger auto rickshaw at Sindhi Colony square in the evening on Thursday; he was injured by metal roof sheets which he was carrying over cart.
People gathered at the spot protested against and demanding compensation for the deceased and strict action against the accused.
Police said that a youth carrying steel roof sheets over a cart was hit by a speeding passenger auto rickshaw.
The deceased sustained injuries in his stomach as a metal roof sheet hit him. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared. The deceased was profusely bleeding due to injury and he died of excessive bleeding told the doctors.
After the preliminary investigation the body was sent for the post mortem. Police have registered a case under section 304 A of the IPC and started to search for the accused driver.
The deceased used to work as labour and was carrying metal roof sheets over cart to the transport company and when he reached near Sindhi Colony square he was hit by the errantly driven passenger auto rickshaw.
During the investigation police found that the passenger auto rickshaw was without registration number.
The driver managed to escape the spot.
The deceased used to work as mechanic of coolers during summer and during off season he would work as labour pulling cart to transport goods.
Family members of the deceased told that the deceased was scheduled to marry after four months. The deceased was a resident of Nishatpura.
