Bokaro police recovered a 20 kg landmine near Bhawahi forest area in Nawadih block of the district on Saturday evening, SDPO, Bermo Raj Kumar Mehta said.
BERMO, SDPO, Rajkumar Mehta told over phone that a joint team of 126th battalion of CRPF and Nawadih police today recovered the landmine of 20 kg planted by Naxals near Bhawani forest area bordering area of Nimiaghat police station.
According to police officials the joint team of security personnel led by assistant commandant Sandip Hati and officer in charge of Nawadih police station Arbind Kumar had been sent to the Bhawani forest area for area domination exercise, when they received information about landmines. "A bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot and defused the landmine. The combing operation was intensified in the area and a search operation was launched following recovery of the landmine .We have also alerted the police to keep a watch on any suspicious movement," Bokaro SP, YS Ramesh said.
