A total of 1939 ‘reserved category B’ Haj aspirants were selected from Madhya Pradesh through ‘Qurrah’ (draw of lots) for Haj 2014 on Friday. The computerized district-wise Qurrah was held here at the Madhya Pradesh State Haj Committee (MPSHC) office besides Taj ul Masajid.
A large number of applicants gathered at the office here to know their fate.
Bhopal Shahar Qazi Syed Mushtaq Ali Nadwi was the chief guest on the occasion while MPSHC member Mohamed Miyan, Mohammed Siddiq Qasmi and Bhopal District Haj Committee president Asad Ullah were especially present on the occasion.
The Qurrah for the reserved B category was initiated by Bhopal Shahar Qazi Syed Mushtaq Ali Nadwi who launched the proceedings by pressing the button of the computer. After the lottery the waiting list of the remaining reserved category Haj aspirants was also made through Qurrah.
Soon after the process the detailed information of the successful Haj aspirants and the wait-listed aspirants was made available on the websites of the Haj Committee of India (HCI) and the MPSHC website. The Haj aspirants could check the status of their applications by entering their cover number.
The HCI has allotted a quota of just 2957 to the state for Haj 2014. Of the total quota 1018 seats were allotted to the reserved A category that comprises of applicants of over 70 years of age and for the remaining 1939 seats Qurrah was carried out today. The quota allotted to the state was so less that it was consumed by the reserved categories only. In fact not all of the reserved category aspirants could get chance while the normal category aspirants’ hopes were dashed outright as there remains no quota for them.
