A 19-year-old girl committed suicide at her residence in Bhanwrkuwan locality of the city here on Thursday. Apparently, she was not getting married and following this she decided to end life.
According to police, the deceased took this extreme step because of her frustrations of not getting married despite repeated efforts.
The deceased identified as Rukmini, daughter of Omprakash, had been mentally unstable for quite some time. Some days back a boy had come to see her for the sake of marriage but the marriage proposal did not work out. Few days back the marriage of her younger cousin sister had also been fixed. This put her in deep depression.
On Wednesday night when everybody in her house went for sleep, she hanged herself to death from ceiling of her house. The incident came to light on Wednesday morning. Bhanwarkuwan police after being informed, immediately rushed to the incident site and found her body hanging from the ceiling fan of her house. Police sent the body for postmortem and started further investigation.
The deceased's father Omprakash said that his daughter had been reeling under acute tension for quite some time with no marriage proposal working for her, though many of her friends had been married off. She had probably thought that there was no boy in the world for her and her dream to become a bride will not be fulfilled, thereby prompting her to commit suicide.
