Hanumanganj police have booked a youth for sexually assaulting a 19-year-old girl at a hotel at Hamidia road, victim became friend over social media and later she was raped by the accused.
Police said that the girl left studies and recently became friends with a boy studying in the school through Facebook. The accused called him to the hotel on the pretext of meeting him and after she came accused sexually assautled her. The accused has not been arrested yet.
According to the police, a 19-year-old girl living in the Mata Mandir area had dropped out of school after class 9 about five years ago. She met Ankur Sen, who lived in the area and used to study in class 11. He was acquainted with him. The two did not meet after leaving school. In the same year, Ankur became friends through Facebook. In March 2022, Ankur called him to the Hanumanganj area to meet him. He took her to the hotel Ambassador on the pretext of talking where he raped her and when the girl opposed he promisded to marry her.
After this the girl's health started deteriorating. Three days ago, when the girl's mother asked her about her health, she told about the incident.
She called Ankur's parents and revealed the incident but Ankur's parents refused to marry. On this the girl lodged a case in the police station. The girl told the police that Ankur is pursuing graduation.
