A 19-year-old girl died while her friend sustained serious injuries after their motorbike was hit by a speeding car at Shivaji Nagar under Habibganj police station area on Wednesday.
According to the police two persons including a woman were injured after their motorbike was hit by a speeding car from back and were rushed in the same car which hit the motorbike to Red Cross hospital where the woman was declared dead while the condition of the injured is critical.
In the initial investigation police found that the car driver took the deceased to Red Cross hospital and later escaped leaving the car at the hospital premises. later the car was seized by the police.
The deceased was identified as Asma Khan while the injured youth was identified as Mayank Dwivedi.
Condition of Mayank is reportedly critical claimed the police and has been kept under observation.
The deceased used to work with a private firm in MP Nagar which deals in water purifier systems while Mayank works with a private firm in Govindpura Industrial area.
The car bearing registration number MP04-CM-3201 which hit the bike was seized by the police. The errant driver was identified as Sandeep Kumar Raut who was on his way to work at MP Nagar. Raut works with Reliance.
Police have arrested Raut later in the investigation.
The incident took place when the deceased was on her way to work along with her friend Mayank.
The police have registered a case under section 304 A of the IPC and have started further investigation.
