In a heartbreaking incident, an 18-month-old child died after falling from the roof of his house in the Chhola Mandir police station area on Monday evening. The toddler, identified as Hanif Khan, was playing on the roof when he slipped through an open space in the railing and fell into the courtyard below.

According to police, the incident occurred around 7 PM. Hanif was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but was declared dead by doctors upon arrival.

Chhola Mandir Police Station In-Charge Suresh Chandra Nagar confirmed that the family resided in a two-story house in the Chhola area. Hanif’s parents, Hamid Khan and his wife, along with their three-year-old daughter, were present at the time of the accident.

The family reported that a portion of the roof’s railing was incomplete, creating a dangerous gap. While playing, Hanif accidentally fell through this opening.

Police have sent the body for postmortem, and investigations are ongoing. Necessary legal procedures are being carried out.

This tragic incident underscores the importance of ensuring child safety at home, particularly in areas with open or under-construction spaces.
