A 17-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at her residence in Anna Nagar under Govindpura police station area on Saturday.
According to police, the deceased Ranjana Sonkar was found hanging in the morning and was declared dead when she was taken to a nearby hospital.
The deceased left her school studies after 8th standard and used to stay at home.
On Thursday after taking dinner with family members, she went to sleep in her room and on next day around 6am, her mother spotted her hanging body from the ceiling fan after which she woke up other family members and rushed the deceased to hospital.
The reason remained unknown. The body was sent for the post mortem after the preliminary investigation and a case under section 174 of the CrPC was registered.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man committed suicide by hanging with the ceiling at Semra Kalan under Bajaria police station area on Saturday. The deceased identified as Sanjay Malviya was found hanging and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
The body was sent for the post mortem after the preliminary investigation and a case under section 174 of the CrPC was registered.
Police said that the deceased was a habitual drinker and used to fight and assault his family members.
The deceased used to work as labour and would spend his earning on liquor.
