A 16-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging with the ceiling at her aunt’s residence in Akbarpur under Kolar police station area on Sunday.
According to the police, the deceased Nikita Sen was found hanging and was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead. Police were informed and on the receipt a police team reached the spot and started investigation.
The deceased was a class 8 student and used to live at a rented apartment with her brothers and aunt. Investigating Officer SI Susheel Mishra said that the deceased committed suicide at around 8 pm and the family members found her hanging after the door of her room was broken.
Police have not found any reason behind the suicide and no suicide note has been found in the initial investigation, he added. The brothers of the deceased and her aunt’s family have expressed ignorance over the reason of the suicide.
Police said that the two brothers of the deceased work as barber while the deceased came to her aunt’s house two years ago and started pursuing her studies.
After the preliminary investigation the body was sent for the post mortem. The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation.
The deceased hailed from Vidisha. The class mate of the deceased would be questioned in the further investigation. The family members and family of deceased’s aunt are yet to be questioned which could help in determining the reason behind the suicide.
