The fifteen-day long awareness drive over triple talaq and other Muslim Personal laws carried out by Jamat-e- Islami concluded here on Sunday night with a public meeting at historic Iqbal Maidan.

Bhopal Shahar Qazi - Syed Mushtaq Ali Nadwi addressing the concluding program said, “The union government should stop aggravating in Muslim Personal law provided to the community by the constitution. If the government did not stop aggravating in the personal law than the Muslims would start a major nationwide campaign for rights of criminal and civil laws besides a big agitation would be launched to withdraw these laws.”

Nadwi further said that actually the British with the purpose to exploit Indians formed uniform criminal and civil laws and to settle the family issues separate personal laws were made for all religions. As per these personal laws Hindus used to solemnized marriages as per Hindu rituals while other family and religious issues used to e settled in religious Panchayats while Muslims used to solemnized marriages and settle divorce issues through Qaziyat and similarly Parsi, Sikh, Jain and Christians used to settle their issues as per their personal laws. During colonial rule India was divided into many small and big kingdoms and the Kings and Nawabs accepted that laws without any opposition, he added.

He said that Muslims are facing problems because they are not practicing complete Shariah. If the community starts solemnizing Nikah in Mosques as per the Shariah than their issues of divorce would also get resolved in mosques and  Qaziyat. If the Muslims start practicing Shariah fully than the need of divorce would not arise, he added.

Jamat e Islami’s Secretary from New Delhi Iqbal Mulla in his address informed that personal law awareness counseling centers would be opened in every district and town. Advocates and clerics would be made available in these counseling centers who would guide Muslims as per Shariah.
