A 13-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at her Mubarakpur residence under Parvaliya police station area on Friday.
No suicide note was found, however, police suspected that the girl identified as Shivani Ahriwar, was forced to take the extreme step as her parents might have scolded her. Police said the girl left studies after Class VII and used to live at home only.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. After preliminary investigation a case under Section 174 of the CrPC has been registered.
In another incident, a 17-year-old girl committed suicide by setting her ablaze at Vallabh Nagar under Jehangirabad police station area on Friday.
Police said the incident came to light after her uncle Narayan Singh spotted fumes coming out of the deceased’s room at around 3 pm. When he rushed to check in the girl was found burnt and unconscious. The locals and Singh took her to nearby hospital where she died later during treatment.
The police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation.
