To commemorate the 105th Raising Day of the Corps of Signals, celebrations were held at Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) in Mhow with great zeal and enthusiasm on Sunday.  Various programmes were organized on the occasion in which officers, JCOs, other ranks, ex-servicemen, defense civilians and their families participated with a lot of enthusiasm.

lt Gen Ravindra Singh Panwar, SM, VSM, Commandant MCTE and Colonel Commandant Corps of Signals  and Chairperson, Family Welfare Organisation, MCTE Anupam Panwar, graced the occasion.  It was a colourful and action packed function, fondly called  `Pagal Gymkhana’.  The crowd was greeted with messages on banners in the sky that were flown by several sports aircraft flown as part of daring air show by the micro light and power hang gliders of Army Adventure Node, Mhow.

A lezium show by troops and a host of other activities including fun races and fancy dress competition were conducted, which held the crowd mesmerized for over two hours. The function finally terminated with the traditional “Tug of War” between Officers and JCOs, which was keenly contested.   Prizes were distributed to winners and runners up of various competitions held during the function. A `Barakhana’ in the traditional style was organized for over 4000 personnel including 200 veterans who attended this grand function. Wholehearted participation in such events by all goes a long way in nurturing a spirit of camaraderie  and goodwill amongst all ranks and families.

The Corps of Signals is at the forefront in the current endeavor of the Indian Army to modernize itself in the information era.    The Corps has transformed into an enviable force by developing state of the art expertise in the areas of information and communication technology, electronic warfare, and cyber security and is well placed to support the efforts of the Indian Army to become a net- centric and information operations capable force.
