Bhopal is set to introduce a fleet of 100 electric buses. The initiative, supported by the Government of India, aims to provide an eco-friendly, efficient, and modern transportation system for the city’s residents.
Mayor Malti Rai on Monday reviewed the e-bus prototype at the Auto Expo, held at the Global Investor Summit venue, and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for their support in making this initiative a reality.
She assured residents that Bhopal will soon benefit from a cleaner and more sustainable mode of public transport. The fleet will be managed by Bhopal City Link Limited (BCLL).
Accompanied by Additional Commissioners Devendra Singh Chauhan and Gunvant Sewatkar, Mayor Rai gathered in-depth insights into the e-buses from Eicher Motors representatives.
She stated that this initiative will not only enhance public transportation but also significantly contribute to reducing carbon emissions in the city.
The electric buses will serve as a crucial step in reducing the city’s reliance on fossil fuels and cutting down pollution levels. This aligns with Bhopal’s vision of emerging as a smart, green city, offering residents a comfortable, safe, and sustainable transit option.
