In another shocking incident, a 10-year-old girl was molested by her neighbour in the Sidheswar Nagar area of the city. To make the matter worse, the victim and her relatives were forced to shuttle between two police stations to file a complaint.
Taking note of the gravity of the matter, Ashish, the SP cracked the whip on the errant police officers, suspending three inspectors including the in-charge of the Thatipur police station and the Mahila police station.
The girl of Sidheswar Nagar was allegedly molested and manhandled by a youth residing in the same area. The victim, with her parents reached the Thatipur police station to register a complaint but was asked by the Station In charge, Inspector Chhotelal Tomar to go the Mahila police station as, according to him complaints of such nature can only be registered at a Mahila Thana.
At the Mahila police station, the victim was asked to go back to the Thatipur police station as, according to Sub Inspector Gayatri Rajput of the Mahila police station the crime was not committed under her jurisdiction. The unfortunate victim and her relatives returned to the Thatipur Station. This time Inspector Chhotelal Tomar made them wait while he talked with the Mahila Thana In charge over the police wireless.
Sources said that he asked Inspector Gayatri Rajput to file a complaint but she refused on the ground that it was not under her jurisdiction. Without knowledge of both of them, the SP has been listening to the wireless conversation between the two and without wasting any time cracked the whip. Another lady inspector Anju Dubey too has been placed under suspension for negligence of duty and the investigation of the case has now been taken over by Ratnesh Tomar, the CSP of the Morar area.
According to Ratnesh Tomar, the CSP of Morar, the inspectors, especially the lady inspectors were duty bound in such a situation to mandatorily file the complaint, but they failed to do so and have been suspended for the failure. The incident comes amid nationwide concerns about child molestation and the laxity and heartless attitude of the police associated with such crimes.
