1-year-course on dialysis medicine soon

Changed life style, dietary habits with everyday increasing number of Blood Pressure, diabetes and other cases of infections pose a serious threat to human system. This amounts to be a challenge and serious threat to our health,” said Professor KS Tiwari of IGNOU.

KS Tiwari informed about these health situations as he was informing about a new course here on Thursday at IGNOU. The one-year course on dialysis medicine is being launched by IGNOU in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Elaborating further about the situation, Professor Tiwari said that everyone is familiar about the fact that in cases of renal failure, transplantation of kidney is the only solution to save the precious life, but in most of the cases, patients come across with enormous number of risks even after transplant.  To save the patient from infections is yet another challenge.  “Bhopal city alone witnesses more than 500 kidney failures and infections of alarming dimensions every year,” added.

Such cases require an appropriate donor who donates the kidney voluntarily.   Non availability of donor again poses problems. Amidst such difficult situations, the only way out is dialysis and related medical management with proper and timely treatment.
