Narrating the bravery tales of Chhattisgarh’s revolutionaries, play ‘Pahtiya’ marked the grand opening of Adi Vidrohi Theatre Festival. The play Pahtiya was staged at Shaheed Bhavan auditorium here on Monday.

Directed by Yogendra Choubey, the play was performed by the artists of Gudi theatre troupe, Raisen. This play was about the freedom struggle and participation of various freedom fighters. The play will narrate the bravery of the freedom fighters like Veer Narayan Singh and Gundadhur.

The play was all in Chhattisgarhi language to make it look more appropriate. As the play dealt with the freedom fighters from Chhattisgarh the play was prepared in this language.

The play begins with introducing a farman declared by British against Paralkot's Gend Singh. In the decree declared by the British it was mentioned that Parlakot is being given to the British Government for twelve years.

At the call of the public, Gend Singh starts the guerrilla war against the British suppression with arrows and arrows, but how long will the arrows be held between the British guns? Eventually, Gend Singh is caught and was hanged by neck till death. From this incident, the blaze of revolution in Chhattisgarh became even more intense.

Veeranarayan Singh of Sonakhan also ignites this revolution even more. Later, other heroes invoke themselves in this revolution.

Whenever the revolt of 1857 is remembered, the nationally known revolutionaries, freedom fighters are recalled. The name of the zonal freedom fighters is kept somewhere on the margins. These heroes who have been thrown into the public sparks of freedom in villages, towns and small towns have been developing in the minds of the people.

“This play was an attempt to bring such revolutionaries to the center” said the director of the play Yogendra Choubey.
