Governor Lalji Tandon has said that it is challenging to work for the development of handicrafts and handloom sector in the fast changing era of globalisation. He said that by developing India’s ancient handicrafts and handloom system, we can create more and more employment opportunities.
The Governor was addressing the three-tier Panchayati Raj training programme organised by BR Ambedkar University of Social Sciences at Hindi Bhavan on Thursday.
Tandon said that the Panchayat Raj system has always been the axis of rural development.
The handicrafts and handlooms of our country have been recognised worldwide, but mechanisation era in the last few years has influenced the development of these arts.

She said that arrangement has been made to impart training to Panchayat representatives to create maximum employment opportunities in rural areas.
The University is also running awareness programmes for the development of handicrafts and handloom.
