Public Health Engineering Minister Sukhdev Panse has told that the State Government has approved Ghoghari and Wardha group tap-water scheme in Betul district.

These schemes costing about Rs 370 crores will be completed in the next two years. He said that with this, 2.70 lakh 70 population of 255 villages of Multai and Prabhatpattan blocks will be freed from severe water crisis.

Panse has thanked the Chief Minister Kamal Nath for the approval of the tap-water schemes. He said that due to the continuous decline in ground water level in rural areas of Multai and Prabhat Pattan blocks, villagers were facing serious drinking water crisis. Villagers could not get drinking water even after boring up to one thousand feet in both blocks. For this reason, rural women and girls had to walk too far to fetch drinking water. Panse said that now pure drinking water will be ensured by Tapti river to 55,000 families of both blocks.

The Wardha Group tap-water scheme costing Rs 135 crores will benefit 20 thousand families of 93 villages. Under this scheme a water purification plant of 120 lakh litre capacity will be set up. Villagers will be provided pure drinking water through 54 high level tanks throughout the year.

The Ghoghri Group tap water scheme costing Rs 235 crores will benefit 35 thousand families of 163 villages. Under this scheme a water purification plant of 200 lakh litre capacity will be set up. Villagers will be provided pure drinking water through 94 high-level tanks throughout the year.
