'Urgent need for app based education'

Published on:

Anjli Jain speaks with Satendra Singh about the importance of creating apps in the education sector and how these are revolutionarising the entire system in the country today

Is there a need of robust platform creating apps in education sectorIJ

Yes. There is need for every school, college and university to use a platform like ours to deliver a mobile-first education experience. This is because 93 per cent of students have access the Internet and 73 per cent use the mobile phone to access the Internet, according to a Student Online Behaviour Report by HT Digital and IMRB. In order to meet the needs of this new Internet-savvy, smartphone-carrying student, schools, colleges and universities will need to provide mobile apps that enable prospective students and enrolled students to: Apply; Register for classes; Take courses; Make payments; take exams and check grades, etc.

Factors responsible for the need of this technology.

The three major factors that are response for the need of technology are: 91 per cent  of students already use the Internet for educational content search; Research shows that 91 per cent of students access the Internet for collecting information about colleges and courses with placements. Indian teens are the No 1 driving force behind India’s smartphone growth.

What are the opportunities in education sectorIJ

At present, most schools, colleges and universities do not provide a mobile app or a mobile-first experience. There is the opportunity to fill this gap and in doing so bring India it in line with developed countries like the US, Canada and Australia where students already have access to and use Kryptos Mobile.

How does Kryptos Mobile bridge this gapIJ

We provide a white-label mobile app platform that they can customise according to their specific requirements without writing software code. This platform enables schools, colleges and university to provide their prospective students and enrolled students.

How is it different from other such similar platforms availableIJ

There are at present, no platforms similar to ours in India. At present, schools, college and universities have the option of contracting with a vendor to write software code to create an app. This is cost-prohibitive for most.

Brief about the company’s objective.

With over 130 schools, colleges and universities across the US, Australia, and Canada that use our platform to create their official mobile app for their institution, it is the most loved mobile application development platform in the education sector. We aim to be the most loved mobile application platform in the India education sector as well.

Are there challenges in this sectorIJ

The two major challenge. First, educating school, college and university administration about the new technology. One of the biggest challenges is to educate school/college administrators about the importance of delivering education to the new Internet-savvy, smartphone-carrying student and not falling behind the technology curve. Second, limited funding for education technology. Funding for technology does not always exist or is not always prioritised. This presents a challenge when it comes to incorporating modern world-class technologies.
