Wipro ltd, a leading global information technology, consulting and outsourcing company, recently announced the launch of a nationwide skills enhancement initiative for undergraduates in the finance and accounting domain, in an e-learning format.
The pilot programme of the initiative titled FINPro (Finance & Accounting Skills Enhancement Programme) has been launched in colleges in Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
The programme is targeted at undergraduate students pursuing the final year of B.Com or BBA in India as well as graduates in these streams.The programme aims to enhance their employability in the finance and accounting and other related services sector.
The online course is designed into two parts— basics of Finance & Accounting and Corporate Readiness training. The course content is proprietary to Wipro. Students, who successfully complete the programme, will be awarded a FINPro certification, post an assessment by Wipro. The certification will enable the candidates to be eligible for a placement at Wipro, if they are able to successfully clear one round of interviews as opposed to three or four levels of screening usually followed while recruiting fresh graduates at the company.
The 24-hour programme consists of online modules in a self paced format, that give the students the flexibility to work through the modules over a period of two months, along-side their core graduation course.
