We are not a management institution we are a developing management institutions and that’s a big difference. The first theme is to understand development not business no management institution focus on that. There focus is to understand business. We are very different from a business management institution. Even the management leadership aspects how to build an organisation how to create collaborative ecosystem will be very grounded in the development sector and will be for social organisation not for profit organisations. We are different because our entire approach is very holistic.

Since ISDM is a not for profit institution, how does it workIJ
We are a Section 8 company, we were very clear that we want to set the best standards for NGO to collaborate. Hence we needed to raise philanthropic money grants and we are very lucky that we are able to raise grants.
What are some of the professional management and leadership skills that have become the need of the hourIJ
From leadership managements stand point the ability to built strong organisation is very important. What’s happening in the sector today is that it is still very promoter dependent and that’s where the work collapses. The ability to envision large scale and sustainable interventions is important. Making networks by collaboration is a key feature. How you design an organisation, how you recruit and the kind of processes you put in are all skill sets which have became the need of the hour.
