Zara Shafique, from the EMEA region, was declared the runner -up for her presentation ‘Discovering Quasars’ and won a cash prize of £ 500.

The competition provides a global platform for engineering students to use their technical know-how and develop their communication skills. As part of the competition, individual competitors give a presentation for 10 minutes on how subjects related to engineering and technology provide solutions for societal problems and answer questions for a further five minutes. The final judgement is based on the presenter’s presentation skills (70%) and its technical content (30%).

Shekhar Sanyal, country head and director, IET India, said “In today’s market reality, soft skills play an important role in differentiating potential candidates for employment and advancement. The PATW competition provides a ready platform for young professionals to hone their ability to articulate complex ideas in a lucid and engaging manner. We are excited at the second consecutive win from India and look forward to many more young professionals participating in the next edition of PATW.”
