Harsh Wardhan Dave, experience head and brand at Worldoo speaks with Nikhil Dawar to highlight about the new online eco-system for children
Worldoo is the only online eco-system for children. How did the concept come upIJ
Today children have become big influencers — right from which dresses/toys to buy to deciding the colour of the new car which the family is buying. About 27 per cent of children in India use Internet. After working with children and their brands, we realised that parents didn’t feel safe when their children were online. It is from here that the concept took birth.
How will this add valueIJ
It is a like an entire world or an ecosystem (where they live). Children have access to the best of international content. They win ‘stars’ for consuming content (gamification). These stars are then used to buy items from a store and decorate their homes (expression). The idea is to create a single platform where they can access their favourite content, at the same time participate in engaging events.
There has always been demand from parents to ensure security. How are you going to address itIJ
There are multi-level security checks we have put into place for ensuring a safe experience. We have designed the system in such a way that the student does not need to go to other websites to access his favourite content. We have brought all popular content to create a safe and engaging experience. Via this, we ensure students stay inside the system which is monitored 24X7
Is it time for visual resources to be used for learning replacing the chalk and talk method of teachingIJ
Yes. Education is a dynamic, continually evolving concept that keeps adapting to the changes around it. The methodology used in teaching is equally transitory in nature and demands contemporary approaches too.
It’s no secret that new technologies are changing the way students learn at present. The newage student is continuously being exposed to newer mediums to learn. The modern classroom is no longer confined to a physical space and students have access to greater learning opportunities than ever before. The traditional classroom set-up is fast being replaced by methods that encourage greater participation and interaction. With such a set-up in the offing, education will never remain confined to mere information but will throw open new avenues that are knowledge-driven.
How can brands targeting children of different age groups find usefulnessIJ
If we look at most of the prevalent successful platforms, on a global level, most of them provide cost per click or cost per impressions based advertising options to brands. In simpler terms brands can advertise basis ‘how many users are visiting’ and/or ‘clicking on the platform content’. There are hardly any places where importance is given to ‘actual time spent’ and ‘engagements with the platform’ by the user in from the perspective of advertising.
This is the first time that global brands will share a common platform on the Internet. How difficult was it to convince them for this ventureIJ
Most of our partners and brands we have interacted have shown keen interest in the project. They understand the importance of creating the right brand experience for their traditional games. In a space with very limited mediums and channels to engage with children. , being on Worldoo makes their brand stand apart from the clutter
How can this create more excitement about a subjectIJ
It has been scientifically recorded that a complex concept or subject can be simplified by creating a visual reference. Besides helping the student actually understand the concept, it also creates a lasting impression in their memory. Also with technology at hand, it is imperative to create new content and resources which aid a student’s learning.
