With an aim to raise funds for the education of the new batch of 40 nursery students, who will be joining Vidya School, Gurgaon, a special music concert has been organised where world renowned flautist Padmashri Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia will be seen performing on Saturday May 3, 2014 from 7:30 pm onwards at the Stein Auditorium, Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
The support of the audience will go a long way in helping Vidya realise its dream of educating, empowering and transforming the lives of the children of hawkers, rag pickers, domestic help, drivers, cleaners, construction labourers and slum dwellers.
Vidya (affiliated to CBSE) is a registered not-for-profit organisation, started 28 years ago by Rashmi Misra on the IIT Delhi campus in her home, with a small group of eight less-privileged girl children has now evolved into a network of grassroots level programmes that include schools, remedial education, computer training, micro finance and social entrepreneurship, in some of the poorest neighbourhoods of Delhi, Haryana, Mumbai and Bangaluru.
