Motivational lecture

The School of Inspired leadership (SOIl), Gurgaon recently hosted a lecture by Nami Zarringhalam, the co-founder of Truecaller. Zarringhalam shared with the students of SOIl his entrepreneurial journey and the story behind the creation of Truecaller along with his business partner Alan Mamedi. “One must always do what he/she really loves! You will see the best in you come out only then,” is what Zarringhalam swore by in his lecture, addressing the students of SOIl.

Talking about his road to success, he said: “Some of the best ideas come from solving some of the basic problems that we face as a society, on a daily basis. The birth of Truecaller happened when I was taking a class with International students. When they went back to their homes for their winter break, they used to text me from their home numbers. That use to confuse me a lot as I wasn’t aware of the country codes and their home contact numbers. This potential need of getting information about a caller on your mobile phone is what led to the creation of Truecaller. Our dependency on mobile devices is increasing day in and day out and we wanted to address this pressing concern.”

Both Nami and Alan are serial entrepreneurs who also founded companies such as www.Möbeljakt.se, a search engine for home interiors in Sweden and www.jobbigt.se, Sweden’s largest employer review site.

Zarringhalam noted that the five pillars or values of SOIl have been tied together neatly to build one’s character, which were similar in essence to the four key values that Truecaller was created on fun, respect, diversity and prestigiousness.
