Mission innovation

A group of BTech Civil Engineering students ‘Aanantham’ from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), Manav Rachna International University (MRIU) organised ‘Innovation’ which put their creativity to the test. The event was held in the university campus with over 160 students participating from different departments at MRIU.

The participating team had to create a two to three floor structure from a set of playing cards with the help of fevicol, scissors and a thermocol board in a three hour time slot. These structures had to pass the test in terms of their keeping in mind the civil engineering point of view. The activity, based on simple every day materials, brought instincts to the fore and encouraged them to think out-of-the-box.

Three groups (with four students in each) bagged the top three positions. Their structures had load-bearing capacity of 101 and 83 Kgs respectively. Faculty members Anjali, Raj Rajeshwari, Tanvi and Vikas from the Civil Engineering Department of FET, MRIU, adjudged the card structures and awarded by a certificate and a prize.
