Ultrasonic Wave-based Temperature sensors

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras Researchers have developed a disruptive sensor technology to greatly increase the efficiency of industrial ovens in fertiliser, petrochemical, chemical and manufacturing sectors.

Called µTMapS or multi-point Temperature Measurement Sensor,’ it provides automated and intelligent measurements that can replace existing heat process control systems that cause expensive forced shutdowns and early retirement of components well before its designed life.

Elaborating on this technology, Prof. Krishnan Balasubramaniam, Institute Professor, and Head, Centre for Non-destructive Evaluation, IIT Madras, said: “Any industry that uses a lot of heat to process materials such as metals or polymers has to ensure that the entire furnace has a uniform temperature across the board. This is critical to reducing defective products. However, existing technologies for this purpose have a lot of gaps and our Research Team at Centre for Non-destructive Evaluation set out to address these gaps.”.

Orientation Programme at sanskriti university

The Sanskriti University welcomed a new batch of students of 2020 in their respective programmes offered. With the COVID-19 pandemic that has gripped the whole world, the university embraced  the new normal by hosting its orientation programme virtually this year.

Students and their parents were introduced to the university and were made familiar with the policies, procedures, resources and facilities, the rules and regulations, and opportunities.

Amit Nevatia, Education Program-lead Amazon Internet Services said: “There is a mass migration to the cloud in terms of information, events, even examinations and assessments which are conducted online. All the institutes are shifting to online. More and more organisations are adopting voice as their medium to communicate. The same technology is being used in education; it is going to become more prevalent in future and also beneficial for special students.”

on-campus music degree programme

The True School of Music has partnered with Vijaybhoomi University to launch an on-campus music degree programme.

While admissions open in November, the courses on campus will commence in April 2021. Students may opt for 36 months degrees programmes in music production, performance, sound engineering or Hindustani playback. Accommodation facilities are available and students may choose to stay on or around the campus or even in Navi Mumbai which is 1.5 hours away from the school.

The school is India’s first music training and educational institution. The universityoffers relevant and quality education and engages in detailed research in engineering, business, law, science, and liberal arts.

Together, they will be committed to nurturing holistic, socially responsible, highly skilled and employable professionals who make a positive difference in the world.
